RJD ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the RJD mobile application (the "App"), which is available to users worldwide.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Information We Collect
Anonymous Accounts
You can use the App without registering or providing any personal information. When you first open the App, we automatically create an anonymous account identified only by a randomly generated ID. Your usage data (described below) is stored under that ID so the App can function — for example, to remember your listening progress and bookmarks. No name, email address, or demographic information is collected unless you choose to create a full account.
If you later create a full account, the data stored under your anonymous account is transferred to it so nothing is lost.
Account Information
Creating a full account is optional and enables synchronization across devices. If you choose to create one, we collect:
- Email address
- First name and last name
- City and country of residence
- Birth year
- Gender
This information is used to create and manage your account, personalize your experience, and help us understand our user community. Demographic information (such as location, birth year, and gender) helps us improve content relevance and may be used in anonymized, aggregate form to analyze usage patterns and improve the App.
Usage Data
To provide core functionality, we collect information related to how you use the App, including:
- Listening history and playback progress
- Bookmarked shiurim
- Downloaded content for offline listening
- Playback preferences (such as speed and sleep timer settings)
This data is associated with your account — your anonymous account if you have not registered, or your full account if you have — and, for full accounts, enables synchronization across devices. Playback positions are also cached on your device so resume works offline.
Device Information
We may collect limited, non-sensitive device information (such as app version or device type) solely for app functionality, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.
We do not collect precise location data.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and maintain the App's features
- Sync listening progress and preferences across devices
- Enable offline listening
- Improve app performance and reliability
- Respond to support requests
We do not use your data for advertising or marketing purposes.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data.
We share data only with trusted third-party service providers that are necessary to operate the App. These providers process data solely on our behalf and under strict confidentiality obligations.
Third-Party Services
We use the following services to operate the App:
- Firebase Authentication – user account management (including anonymous accounts)
- Firebase Firestore – storage of user data and preferences
- Cloudflare R2 – secure delivery of audio content
These services may process limited user data strictly for providing App functionality.
Tracking
We do not track users across apps or websites owned by other companies.
We do not use tracking technologies for advertising or analytics across third-party services.
Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to provide the App's functionality.
If you request account deletion:
- Your account and associated personal data will be deleted within a reasonable timeframe
- Some data may be retained if required by law or for legitimate operational purposes
Data stored under an anonymous account remains associated with that account's ID until you clear your listening history in the App's settings, request deletion, or the account becomes inaccessible (for example, after the App is uninstalled). You can also clear your listening history at any time from the App's settings.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and personal data
- Request export of your data
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time directly in the App: Settings → Delete Account. For any other request, contact us using the information below.
International Users
The App is used globally. Your information may be processed and stored in countries outside of your own. We take reasonable steps to ensure that your data is protected in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws.
Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.
If we become aware that personal data from a child under 13 has been collected, we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted within the App and reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
